Textiles from the Atlas Mountains

30th of September 2016 through 9th of November 2016
The Douglas Hyde Gallery, Trinity College, Dublin 2, Ireland

After having been invited to do an exhibition on 'boucherouite' rag rugs from Morocco in late 2010/early 2011 + another exhibition on Mbuti loin cloths from the Congo in summer 2012 this is the third time that I had the honour of exhibiting at the Douglas Hyde Gallery, a very well respected institution in the field of contemporary art.

The collection of textile objects from the Middle Atlas, High Atlas + the Anti-Atlas has been built over the past 3 decades. The 6 selected examples show a surprising similarity of the creative spirit between the pieces from the early 20th century (the large Beni Ouarain carpet + the Ait Abdellah women's veil) + the almost contemporary ones from the High Atlas.
